TOWARDS MODERN SILVICULTURE Resume: The article outlines the most important silvicultural problems which were discussed by forestry experts of the Slave and national-democratic countries held were discussed by forestry experts cf the Slave and national-democratic countries during a conference held in May 1948 in Prague and while on an excursion trough Czechoslovakia after the conference. The importance of forest ecology and phytocenology, as well as proper silviculture is emphasized. A short description is given oif the outstandig characteristics of forest associations which were visited. Essential problems, such as regeneration, tending of woods, afforestation, forest aesthetic, griowing of protective forest belts, amelioration of forest pastures, etc., are stressed. 363 |
