milijuna dinara, a da pitanje ispravnosti ovih utrošaka stoji još uvijek otvoreno. Ovo pogotovo kad novi znakovi pokreta traže primjenu daljnjih mjera. THE SLIP OF LARGE EARTH-MASSES AT ZALESINA ON THE ZAGREB— RIJEKA RAILWAY DIVISION CONOLUSION The movement of the terrain at Zalesina in its most critical period was so topi cal that articles were written about it also in foreign technical publications. Besides, for its solution were spent thus far many years of work and many hunđred million dinars, but the question of justification of these expenditures is still at issue. Ali the more since signs of new displacements call for the application of further measures. The essential point in these problems is an exact interpretation of the sliding phenomena, for which it is exceptionally important to engage adequate specialists. In the last time for these interpretations — besides geologists — there appeared also geomechanicians who, in spite of the efforts expended and their goodwill did not succeed to offer a right explanation. We consider — and that is the main objective of this article — that besides the mentioned experts it is necessary to emphasize also the role of foresters specialists in the torrent training who could make very useful contributions to the subject in question. We feel that the complex of problems to be solved is very important for engineer-specialists concerned with the planning, layout on the ground and construction af highways and railways, and that therefore greater attention should be paid to this question than has been so far. Besides that ali builders of traffic routes of any kind know from experience that the undermining of embankments and slopes brings about the problem of their equilibrium, and therefore it is useful to apply this analogy also to the erosion phe nomena. As erosion constitutes the basic idea of this article, we consider that as an ope rational problem it belongs exclusively to the domain of forestry and that ali other professions concerned wit it temporarily will not yield satisfactory results, as they did not in the case od Zalesina either. |
