ELEMENTS FOR DETERMINING TIME CONSUMPTION IN CROSS-CÜTTING SILVER FIR STEMS Summary In his experimental study the author deals with the problem of setting up a basis for determining the time consuption when cross-cutting stems of trees with diameters t>. h. ranging between 27,5 and 77,5 cm. into individual assortments, i. e.: sawlogs, pitprops and stacked wood. The average mid-diameters of sawlogs and stacked wood as well as the average diameters at the small end of pieces increase with trees becoming stouter, and in like manner also increases the number of pieces of these assortments, i. e. the number of cross-cuts per tree. However, the results of investigations show that the diameters of pitprcps pieces remain approximately equal irrespective of stem diameters, while the total length and number of pieces per tree — thus also the number of cross-cuts — decrease with increasing diameters of trees. From these results it can be concluded that the time consumption per tree for cross-cutting (pure t;me for cross-cutting and walking along the tree) for sawlogs and stacked wood will increase with increasing tree diameters, while for pitprops it will decrease. The number of pieces of sawlogs assortments and stacked wood per 1 cu. m. of volume decreases with the increasing tree diameter, and, accordingly, also the number of cross-cuts and the length of walking along the tree will decrease. In pitprops — with regard to ihe approximately same diameters and the length of individual pieces in stemn of various legths — the number of cross-cuts and the length of walking along the tree remains per 1 cu. m. of volume approximately the same. As a basis for determining the time consuption in felling trees was determined the quotient of diameter at stump-height and the diameter at breast height. With increasing the diameter at breast height this quotient decreases fairly regularly from 1,38 to 1,31. 392 |
