SUMMARY

A contribution to the knowledge of lignicolous mlacromycetes
in the coastal area of Jugoslavia

Although the flora of macromycetes in the coastal area of Jugoslavia was
only sporadically investigated, there exist now enough, mostly unpublished, data
to give an idea of the distribution of lignicolous species there. More than 60
species of higher fungi, on wood of 30 genera of trees and shrubs were established.
The largest number grew on Quercus spp., with 8 parasites and 19 saprophytes.
On Pinus spp. two parasites, one particularly widespread and dangerous,
and 15 saprophytes were found. From Olea europaea 2 parasites and 5 saprophytes
were determined. On other trees and shrubs grew from one to six species.
Among the most widespread parasites were Omphalotus olearius (DC. ex Fr.) Sing,
on Olea europaea, Inonotus tamaricis (Pat.) R. Maire on Tamarix spp., Phellinus
pini (Thore ex Fr.) Pilät on Pinus (mainly P. halepensis), Ph. robustus (P. Karst.)
Bourd. et Galz. (resupinate form) on various trees and Ph. tourlosus (Pers.) Bourd.
et Galz. which also grows on several tree species. Some of the most common
Central European saprophytes as Stereum hirsutum (Willd. ex Fr.) S. F. Gray,
Schizophyllum commune Fr., Trametes versicolor (L.) ex Fr. etc. were among the
most frequent in this region too. A number of very rare species were noted,
some of them being apparently characteristic of the Mediterranean, as Stereum
reflexulum Reid, Dichomitus squalens (P. Karst.) Reid, Rigidoporus ulmarius
(Sow. ex Fr.) Imaz., Truncospora ochroleuca (Berk.) Pilät and Phellinus robiniae
(Murr.) A. Ames.
