Our investigations show that the peat from Bosansko Grahovo (Bosnia and
Herzegovina) is a convenient substratum for the cultivation of the above mentioned
species provided adequate nutrition is given.

PK-fertilization of Finus halepensis Mill, has shown a significantly higher effect
than N-fertilization. After the aplication of dead coniferous needles to the substratum
the influence of nitrogen on the growth was not significant. It was found
out that N-fertilization for the cultivation of Robinia pseudoacacia L. and Spartium
juncem L. on the peat from Bosansko Grahovo should be avoided. N-fertilizer
reduced the number and quality of sedlings. Root nodules of Rhizoblum sp.
were poorly developed by N-treatment. Simbiotic nitrogen fixation must have been
reduced. This is a well-known effect of N-fertilization The application of CaC03
resulted in the growth reduction and a slight cholorosis of Robinia pseudoacacia
L.

Adding confierous needles considerably reduced the negative effect of CaCOj

Fh — 608 (6x7,5 cm) papertpot containers are not convenient for the production
of Robinia pseudoacacia L. seedlings.
