the northern Europe. The rare fronts reaching the coastal region were very weak,
causing only some local slowers, but the wind speed accompanying these fronts was
temporary high and very dangerous for the intensity of fire and its fast spreading.
Forest fire protection system was effective in fast fire control of 96 percent of the
total cases, but at the same time only several large scale fires in the regions of
Korčula, Makarska, Dubrovnik and Cres cover 90 percent of the total area damages
in 1985 over the area of Croatia.
