Summary

The Borderland Investment Fund was an institution that operated in period
1871—1910. It was formed upon the area of Brod and Petrovaradin Border Regiments
(parts of that time Military Borderland). It´s task was to achieve an
auction of volume of wood on 30000 acres of old oak-forests that were assigned
to it, and with obtained money to finance the construction of railways, roads,
sluices, dikes, schools and other objects of public interest in Slavonia.

Analysing the original materials (management plans and maps from period
1871—1882) author determined the exactly locations of Fund´s forests, also the
areas of single forest complexes distributed to five forest-offices, which were
formed for managing in »state-owned« forests after dissolution o the Military
Borderland (1871). The results show that the total area of Fund´s forests (together
with unproductive areas) amounted 34086,38 acres, and that the most
often cited datum of 30000 acres (exactly: 30688,56 acres) refers only to acres
covered with forests, including a part of glades.
