Šumarstvo, 3/4, 27—35, 1984. The Effect of Phytohormones Upon Rooting of Greeen Cuttings of Deciduous and Evergreen Ornamental Shrubs and Trees Summary The effect of two chemicals (»Biokor« and »Stikor«) upon -rooting of green cuttings of deciduous and evergreen shrubs and conifers (total of 23 species) was tested. Active principles of Biokor and Stikor are alpha-naphthyl acetic acid and beta-indol butyric acid resceptively. On the basis of the results obtained, one can draw the following conclusions: The two chemicals under consideration induced rhizogenesis and consequently increased the percentage of rooted cuttings in most species investigated. In a number of plant species, in which rhizogenesis did not take place in the absence of chemical treatment (Aucuba japonic a, Euonymus japonicus, Punica gr an a turn, etc.), application of the chemicals resulted in an extremely high rooting percentage (frequently app. 100%). Biokor and Stikor were found to be almost equally effectual upon 14 species investigated (difference in percentage of rooted cuttings was less than 10%), the 3 species (R i b i s sanguine urn »King Edward VII«, Thuja o c c. »Smaragd «, and Juniper us virginiana) were mare affected by Biokor while 4 species (Magnolia 1 i 1 i i f .1 o r a nigra, Juniper us c i n e n s i s, Piceag 1 a u c e »Conica«, and Juniperu s sab . »Tamarichipholia«) by Stikor. The effect of treatment upon duy mass of root system, calculated per cutting, was expressed to afar lesser extent than upon percentage of rooted cuttings. In all the species in which also to untreated cuttings formation of adventive roots was observed, dry mass of root system calculated per cutting was the highest, i whereas Biokor induced the highest dry mass in 10 and Stikor tin 11 plant species. In conclusion, the application of Biokor and Stikor may significantly increase the percentage of rooted cuttings of a great number of species of deciduous and evergreen ornamental shrubs and conifers. |
