Summary Several years of testing the autovegetative propagation of certain species of the Alnus L, genus have shown that rooting of cuttings depends on the species; clone; physiological condition of the cuttings; age of the donor; application of stimulative means for the rooting; concentration of the applied stimulator; the substrate used for planting the cuttings, etc. Adult trees are also possible to propagate autovegetatively after grafting. The negative effects of growth, such as the plagiotropic growth is possible to eliminate by successive passages. The elimination of the plagiotropic effects of growth depends on the genotype (clone). The achieved results of propagating three alder species may be used in forestry practice in establishing the clone seed plantations; in establishing directed plantations for biomass production; for horticultural needs and further theoretical research on the different problems connected with improvements and raising forest trees; for the forest tree physiology. Thus would different alder clones produced in this way be suitable for experimental research on the modifications and genetic variability; heredity of different properties; capacity of certain genotypes in the fixation of the nitrogen; mycorrhizae; experimental research on the growth of cuttings as compared to that of seedlings; the problems of rejuvenation, etc |
