SUMMARY: In the paper a comparative analysis of the floral composition
on the burnt and non-burnt stands of the holm-oak and the flowering ash forests
— as. Orno-Quercetum ilicis on the slopes of Kozjak above Kaštel Sućurac
near Split is made. It has been found out that fire caused a certain change
in the floral composition, but this change is not essential for the complete renewal
of the most important forest elements. The basic difference is that during
a 10-year succesion the tree layer which in the non-burnt stands is well
developed has not succeeded yet to develop. In the burnt stands a certain number
of heliophil species which are not represented in the non-burnt stands is
noted. Other registered differences cannot be connected with the effects of

fire. The Alepo pine (Pinus halepensisj has moved in onto the burnt surfaces,
however in the further succesion process its pushing out may be expected, so
in the analyzed example fire did not brought about any phytocenological change
of the forest ass. Orno-Quercetum ilicis.
