Topić, V., Škarić, Z., Perica, S., 1996: Osnova korištenja i zaštite prostora za grad/općinu: Split SUMMARY: Destroying of vegetation and the drastic degradation of the area of Solin and Kaštela, caused mainly by cement industry, is from the ecologic side a great problem. Besides pollution ofthe air and settling of cement dust, thefactory Dalmacijacement has changed the area by surface digging of cement clay. Since Split is one ofthe main transit centres of tourism on the coast the problem is more serious since the digging continues. This situation demands recultivation of surface digging by ajforestation as the essential amelioration measure in protection ofthe landscape. This paper deals with the amelioration measures on (l)final lower exploited areas (according to the miner š project) which are made ofmarly with admixtures of carbonat sandstone and limestones and (2) on the areas of nonused earth material. The metods of amelioration have been analysed by biologic and technical-camou jlage methods. The autor gives the list oftrees, bushes and climbing plants, which are used for amelioration of excavation and deals with the types oj planting.
