The investigations are long lasting (33 years) and are done on the experimental object Klačine on Flowering Ash (Fraxinus ornus L.J, Atlas Cedar (Cedrus atlantica Man.), Oriental Hornbeam (Carpinus orientalis Mill.), Black Pine (Pinus nigra Am.), Maritima Pine (Pinus pinaster Ait.) and Oak Downy (Quercus pubescens Willd.) which were planted in 1958. The trees are in lines, they are of the same age and they develop in the same ecologic conditions. The first pedologic investigations were done one year before afforestation of the plot (in 1957) and later at the age of 19, 25 and 32 of the trees. Very interesting data were obtained about the quantity of leaf litter, humus, nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium in the soil under the investigated trees. The greatest quantities of leaf litter were noticed under Atlas Cedar and the smallest quantity of humus, nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium in the soil under Black Pine. These investigations are important for the rational managing of forest and forest soils, especially on karst. But the investigations stopped on the experimental plot Klačine because it was mined in the war in 1992. The plot is on the area of forestry of Sinj. It was founded in 1956 and it is a part of the amelioration complex Klačine, of the entire area of 40 ha. The afforestation of this forest experimental plot was done in the spring of 1958. It is situated on the slopes of the right bank of the river Cetina, with the highest point of 395 m. The plot is typical for the submediterranean karst part ofDalmatia and it lies nearly in its middle part. Geologically, the plot is quite homogenuous and is made of limestones with pebbles of dolomites on which are brown soils |
