Holm oak is a widely distributed Mediterranean oak species found in moderate to dry habitats (Archibold 1995). This is a very important species for the regeneration of deforested areas and abandoned agricultural areas in the Mediterranean (Rodà et al. 1999, Rey Benayas and Camacho-Cruz 2004).
