Legal Provisions Regulating Game Loss and Damage from Game, and Protection Measures     pdf     HR     EN 623
Summary: The current "Zakon o lovu" ("The Hunting Law"), its amendments and additions and the 10 substatutory documents, has been effective since 1994. Apart from the Law itself, game loss, damage from game and protection measures are regulated by 3 of those 10 substatutory documents. The goal of every hunting right representative should be to reduce game loss and damages from game to the minimum possible extent; in practice, this is most efficiently achieved by the following:
- ensuring peace and sufficient supplies of food and water in a hunting ground,
- well-organised game warden service guarding hunting grounds and preventing illegal actions and their harmful consequences in cooperation with the police and the State inspectorate,
- maintaining optimal game and predator numbers,
- removing stray dogs and cats,
- undertaking preventive, curative, laboratory-diagnostic and other hygienic-health measures in a hunting ground to safeguard the health of game and other animal species,
- rescuing game from elementary disasters,
- undertaking preventive measures in the course of agricultural and other activities or applying chemical and other means,
- educating the local population and cooperating with it,
- monitoring habitats permanently in order to detect initial damage and its causes and to eliminate it.
