Mouflon (Ovis ammon musimon Pallas, 1811) trophy parameters in the state hunting ground VII/6 “Kalifront”     pdf     HR     EN 523
Summary: The paper analyses the interaction of measuring elements in mouflon trophies, as well as horn growth in length and circumference, and compares it with some Central European and Corsican populations. In terms of mouflon horn element evaluation from the hunting ground “Kalifront”, the highest correlation with age was displayed horn length (r = 0.83), circumference in the third horn section (r = 83) and the overall trophy value (r = 0.82). The overall trophy value is most affected by horn length (r = 0.98), followed by horn circumference in the third horn section (r = 0.91). The second horn section shows slightly less correlation with trophy values and circumference, or horn span (r = 0.82) and curvature. The curve of horn circumference increase from the Rab population in the first four years shows great similarity to the curve of the Slovak population. Together, they have higher values than other populations. However, unlike the Rab population, the Slovak population does not display a decrease in the circumference of annual rings; on the contrary, it rises until the animal reaches the age of 8. The Rab population shows abrupt decrease in this value after age 6, which is the highest decrease among the compared populations.
