A Cross-Section of a Normal Side-View of a Forest Fire Prevention Road, Finding Expenditure-Favourable Models     pdf     HR     EN 235
Summary: A more intensive road construction of forest fire prevention roads has been started in 1990 in the Republic of Croatia, leaving this the only category of forest roads being built extensively today. By studying the structure of the expenditures with a special accent on the costs of the excavation process, with initial reference to the regular prescribed cross profile of a forest fire prevention road (from here on referred to as a FFPR), it was intended to determine whether the cross profile of a FFPR, valid at this moment, is really the most appropriate for a rocky ground area, and whether or not the applied construction technology is the most affordable. The results acquired are quite debatable. A new technology of work has been recommended, a so called side compensation of large ground loads. Within it, mathematical expressions have been traced out which enable a quite accurate calculation of the costs for the excavation process of individual versions of a FFPR and the choice of the most favorable. The whole method is supported by personal computers and is based on digitized cards, and on the ground centre lines set on them that represent versions of specific FFPRs and on constructed digitized models of the site. There is a computer program named "Trošak" ("Cost") that is based on derived mathematical expressions.
Key words: a regular cross profile; forest fire prevention roads; side compensation of large ground loads
