A Contribution to the Management of Red Oak (Quercus borealis maxima Sarg.)     pdf     HR     EN 287
Summary: Red oak (Quercus borealis maxima Sarg.) was introduced in Požega Valley forty years ago. In the past period, red oak was denominated and managed as Quercus robur. The paper deals with ecological conditions of the site (geographical, geological, pedological, climatic) and management characteristics of red oak.
The investigation presents data analysis of two trees (inferior and superior model trees, by Hohenadel) in the observed period (40 years). The annual current diameter increment was measured with the Pressler method, as were the stand height curve, the shape number and shape quotient.
The provisional volume per hectare of red oak and the concrete and theoretical distribution of trees per diameter grades were based on the above parameters.
Statistical analysis and mathematical function show basic characteristics of growth and increment height, diameter and volume by ages. There is no proportion (correlation) between the annual current diameter increment and the diameter grades (rX = 0.098677, by Pearson).

Key words: annual current diameter increment; concrete and theoretical distribution; ecological conditions of the site; growth and increment; red oak; tree analysis
