Summary: Results of survey on mechanical felling and processing with harvester Timberjack 1270B, carried out among forestry experts, who visited felling sites, where work was deducted with harvester during September 2002, were considered in the paper. Survey was made by usage of H-diagram. Main answers on issue why the machine work was not evaluated with the highest grade (10) were: doubt in usefulness in natural forests, doubt in applicability in all terrain conditions and objection on the high purchasing price of the machine. Organizational issues of applicability of the machine felling got lower rank, and the lowest frequencies were related to the issues connected with environmental unfriendliness, increased strip roads density and damages in felling site. When asked why they did not give the lowest grade (0) surveyed pointed out the productivity of the mechanical felling, ergonomic advantages, attractiveness of the work and increased safety of the work.Surveyed experts evaluated mechanical felling and processing with grades from 1 to 8, while the average value was 5.3. Results of the survey pointed out that opinions were divided, but also that forestry experts evaluated usefulness of the machine felling and processing in Croatian forests as generally positive.
